Brinell Vision Expands Optical Manufacturing with New Manchester Thin-Film Facility

Brinell Vision has expanded its UK manufacturing operations with the launch of a dedicated thin-film optics production facility located close to Manchester Airport.

The new site has been developed to support increased production capacity for precision optical filters, laser protection technologies and advanced anti-reflective coating systems used across aerospace, defence, medical and industrial optical applications.

The facility strengthens Brinell Vision’s capability in advanced thin-film deposition and optical coating manufacture, supporting growing demand for high-performance optical components designed for harsh operating environments.

Brinell Vision products are utilised within a wide range of specialist applications including:

  • Laser protection systems
  • Medical instrumentation
  • Optical sensing technologies
  • Aerospace display systems
  • Precision imaging equipment

Alongside the Manchester expansion, the company will continue operating its existing development and research facility in Perthshire, Scotland. The Scottish site will remain focused on advanced optical development projects including astronomy instrumentation, meteorological optics and rapid prototype coating development.

Brinell Vision’s manufacturing approach combines advanced optical design with precision high-energy deposition processes to produce durable optical coatings and filters capable of operating in demanding ground, airborne and space environments.

The expansion represents a significant step in strengthening the company’s UK optical manufacturing capability while supporting future growth within specialist photonics and precision optics markets.
